Privacy policy

GU Energy Labs South Africa (Prime Park, Printers Way, Montague Gardens, Cape Town) is the responsible party for the personal information collected through this site, as defined in the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA). What we collect

• Contact details: name, email address, mobile number
• Delivery details: street address, suburb, city, province, postal code
• Order information: items, flavours, sizes, order value and history
• Communications: messages you send us by form, email or WhatsApp
• Technical data: IP address, device and browser type, pages viewed

We do not collect or store your card number, CVV or bank login details. Payments are handled entirely by Payfast on their own secure infrastructure.

Why we use it

• To process, pack, deliver and invoice your order
• To answer support, wholesale and sponsorship enquiries
• To send transactional updates such as dispatch and tracking notifications
• To send marketing email or WhatsApp updates, only where you have opted in
• To improve the store, detect fraud and meet our legal and tax obligations

WhatsApp and email updates

If you tick the WhatsApp option at checkout we will use your mobile number to send delivery updates for that order. Marketing messages are separate and always opt-in. You can unsubscribe from email with the link in any newsletter, or reply STOP to a WhatsApp message, and we will stop immediately.

Who we share it with

We share only what is necessary, with operators who process data on our behalf under contract: our courier partner (name, address and phone number, for delivery), Payfast (to take payment), our email and hosting providers, and our accountants for tax records. We do not sell your personal information to anyone, ever.

Cross-border transfers

Some of our service providers host data outside South Africa. Where that happens we only use providers who apply protections comparable to POPIA.

Cookies

We use cookies and local browser storage to keep your cart and recent searches available, to remember preferences, and to understand aggregate site usage. Essential cookies are required for the store to work. You can block or clear cookies in your browser, but the cart may not persist between visits.

How long we keep it

Order and invoice records are kept for five years as required by South African tax law. Marketing consent records are kept while your subscription is active and for a reasonable period afterwards to prove consent. Support conversations are kept for two years.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS. Access to customer data is limited to staff who need it, protected by individual accounts and multi-factor authentication. If a breach affects your information we will notify you and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.

Your rights

• Ask what personal information we hold about you
• Ask us to correct or update it
• Ask us to delete it, where we are not legally required to keep it
• Withdraw marketing consent at any time
• Object to processing, or complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa

Children

This store is intended for adults. We do not knowingly market to or collect information from children under 18 without the consent of a parent or guardian.
